According to the World Bank, $486 billion is needed to restore Ukraine. At the same time, the specialist deficit reaches 4.5 million people. Innovative solutions can be the key to effectively rebuilding the country after the war. To strengthen Ukrainian technology teams and their solutions, IRON Lviv Tech Cluster, Civitta, and Radar Tech, with the support of USAID’s “Competitive Economy of Ukraine”, organized Hardware for Recovery | Lviv Hackathon.
When developing challenges, the Civitta and Radar Tech team proposed focusing on three critical areas important for Ukraine’s recovery:
27 teams were selected to participate in the hackathon from over 130 submitted applications. Participants included engineers, representatives of small businesses and startups, scientists, developers, students, and marketers. Over 25 experts also joined the hackathon, helping teams as lead mentors, mentors, and workshop speakers. Over three days, teams worked on their solutions’ business models, developed marketing strategies, and finally pitched their solutions to the jury.
